Is Seeing Always Believing is a media literacy project where students create interactive exhibits to critically analyze news consumption and engage their community in discussions on becoming savvy, informed media consumers.

How can we tell what's true in a world where anyone can publish a story? In Is Seeing Always Believing?, students take on the role of journalists and media critics as they uncover how information is shaped—and sometimes distorted—across platforms. They analyze real news stories and social posts, tracing how facts are framed, visuals influence perception, and bias affects credibility. Students then tackle the challenge of redesigning a media piece to make it more accurate, balanced, and clear, producing both a rewritten story and an infographic that helps others recognize trustworthy reporting. By the end, students understand not only how to evaluate the news they consume, but how to take responsibility for the information they share—skills that prepare them to navigate and improve today's media landscape.
