Content & Standards Focus
Analyzing distributions, comparing center and variability, and drawing conclusions from data
Students use data to explore how their classmates are similar and different.
What can data reveal about the people around us? Students gather and analyze data about their classmates, using statistics to uncover patterns, tell stories, and communicate insights. Through surveys and statistical analysis, students develop artifacts that describe their classroom community and share their findings with others. As students engage in the modeling cycle, they begin to see how data can help them understand the world — and each other — in new ways.

Module 1 Project Overview
This project is about getting to know your class community by using data representations to answer the question, “In what ways are we alike and in what ways are we different?”
5 Minute Math - Match It: Dot Plots
While much of an XQ math module centers on project-based learning, some concepts are covered through direct practice. Every module includes a selection of "5 Minute Math" activities for building fluency.
Collect & Reflect
This daily activity helps students organize their work, reflect on their progress, and connect their daily efforts to their learning goals. By taking a couple of minutes each day to gather and review their work, students build strong habits, track growth, and stay on course toward meeting learning objectives.
Testimonials
"One student tracked his guitar playing, realized he needed more consistent practice, and took action. That’s what teachers dream of—students analyzing data and applying it."
